The audit goes deep into your historical billing to identify anything you were charged that you shouldn't have been. Our specialists use proprietary recalculation software to examine:

• Rate schedules — Was your business placed on the correct rate class for your usage type and volume?
• Rate codes — Incorrect rate codes are one of the most common - and costly - billing errors utilities make.
• Meter reading errors — Misread or estimated meters that were never corrected can create years of overcharges.
• Tariff misapplications — Tariffs applied incorrectly, or to accounts they don't apply to, go unnoticed for months or years.
• Taxes and surcharges — Incorrectly applied taxes and regulatory fees are recoverable in most cases.

(ESCO / deregulation explanation)

In the mid-1990s, many states passed energy deregulation legislation that removed utilities' monopoly over energy supply. This created a competitive market of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) and gave commercial customers the ability to choose where their energy supply comes from.

Most businesses are unaware of this — or have never taken advantage of it.

Here's what deregulation means for you:

• Your utility can only offer a variable rate — one that changes every month based on market conditions
• Through energy procurement, we shop the competitive supplier market to find the best available fixed rate for your account
• A fixed rate means budget predictability — your supply cost won't fluctuate with the market
• You still receive one bill from your utility — the competitive supplier's rate simply appears as a line item
• Your utility remains fully responsible for delivery, service, and customer support — nothing changes there

This program is designed for commercial facilities with meaningful utility spend. To be a good candidate:

• Your business should spend $2,000 or more per month on utilities (combined across all utility types)
• You operate a commercial facility - office, restaurant, retail location, warehouse, manufacturing plant, school, or similar
• You have access to recent utility bills (1–3 months is enough to get started)
• You are billed by a regulated utility (Con Edison, National Grid, PSE&G, PECO, ComEd, and most major providers qualify)

Both programs operate on a performance basis. The bill audit is completely free. Our specialists only get paid when they find savings or recover money on your behalf. In that case, you pay a percentage of the recovery. If nothing is found, you pay nothing at all. Energy procurement has no enrollment fee either. Savings are simply realized through your reduced supply rate going forward.

Bill audit fee structure:

$60,741.72 - Con Edison Refund A commercial account in New York City received a customer refund check directly from Con Edison after our specialists identified a billing error on the account. The refund was issued by Con Edison as a result of the audit findings.

$105,964.73 - National Grid Credit A Long Island commercial account was overbilled due to a stopped meter that went undetected. The response came directly from the Office of the President of National Grid LI.

Your specialist will reach out if any additional information is needed, including access to your utility account for the full three-year lookback review. They can log in on your behalf if needed -- you won't have to navigate any of that yourself.
4. Results: if errors or savings are found, you'll be presented with the findings before anything is finalized. You decide whether to proceed.
5. Recovery: refunds and credits are pursued directly with the utility on your behalf. Procurement savings begin with your next billing cycle.
